Union County Environmental Health is responsible for the enforcement of North Carolina Public Health Rules and Regulations across all parts of Union County, including within municipalities. The Division administers two County Ordinances (Solid Waste Management and Mass Gathering) that are enforceable in unincorporated Union County, Hemby Bridge and Mineral Springs.
The Planning Department is responsible for administering the policies of the Board of County Commissioners regarding long-range planning (future direction of growth and facilities) and current planning (standards for growth as embodied in development ordinances).
Union County Water operates and maintains a regional water utility system that provides retail water and wastewater service to over 45,000 water customers and 33,000 sewer customers located throughout unincorporated Union County and 13 of the 15 municipalities within the County.
